This interactive continuing education program examines how culturally responsive clinical care can strengthen suicide prevention efforts across the continuum of care. Participants will explore evidence-informed approaches to suicide resin assessment, intervention, and collaborative safety planning while considering the impact of cultural, social, and systemic influences. Clinicians will identify practical strategies to enhance equitable suicide prevention in diverse practice settings.

Upon completion, participants will be able to:

  • Identify suicide risk and protective factors while considering cultural, social, and systemic influences on clinical care.

  • Apply culturally responsive strategies to suicide risk assessment and clinical decision-making.

  • Develop collaborative safety plans that incorporate clients’ strengths, values, and support systems.

  • Implement culturally responsive intervention strategies to promote client safety and ongoing engagement in care.

Earn 1 NBCC continuing education credit hours upon successful completion of this course. BTG Counseling and Educational Services has been approved by NBCC as an Approved Continuing Education Provider, ACEP No. 8121.

About the Speaker

Quanesha Johnson is a bold mental health advocate, dynamic educator, and the visionary behind BTG Counseling and Educational Services and the nonprofit Yes, We Go to Therapy. As a Licensed Therapist, Certified K–12 Classroom Teacher, and School Counselor in Pennsylvania, Quanesha brings over 20 years of experience at the powerful intersection of mental health and education.

Whether she’s leading a workshop for school staff, guiding a therapy session, or leading a parent engagement session, Quanesha leads with compassion, cultural responsiveness, and real-world insight. She’s on a mission to break the stigma around mental health, especially in communities that have long been underserved and underrepresented. Her work is rooted in the belief that everyone deserves access to healing, support, and the tools to thrive.

Quanesha’s engaging and collaborative style helps her create safe, affirming spaces, whether he in classrooms, conference rooms, or community centers. She brings her clinical and educational expertise to schools, universities, and organizations across the country, offering thought provoking and actionable sessions on topics like Trauma-Informed Care, Burnout Prevention, Conquering Imposter Syndrome, and The Impact of Social Media on Youth.

Outside of her professional life, Quanesha is a wife and mom of three who enjoys long walks, reading up on all things mental health, and volunteering in her community. Quanesha is a graduate of the Goldman Sachs One Million Black Women in Business Program.

Frequently Asked Questions

BTG Continuing Education Programs are open to qualified mental health and behavioral health professionals, educators, students, and other professionals whose roles are relevant to the course topic. Participants are responsible for determining whether the course meets the continuing education requirements of their applicable licensing or credentialing board.

There are no refunds. If you are unable to attend the course that you registered and paid for, please email info@btgcounselinged.com. Your registration will be transferred to a future CE offering.

If a course is cancelled or rescheduled by BTG or the presenter, registered participants will be notified as soon as reasonably possible and will have the following options:

  • Transfer their registration to the rescheduled offering of the same course at no additional cost.
  • Transfer their registration to another eligible continuing education course.
  • Request a full refund of the registration fee.

Participants must attend the full CE components to receive continuing education credit. Attendance will be verified by using methods designated by BTG Counseling and Educational Services. Certificates of completion will be issued only after all attendance and completion requirements have been met. This is inclusive of completing a course evaluation.

Sessions will not be recorded.

We will provide reasonable technical assistance for issues within our control; however, technology interruptions that prevent attendance or participation from being verified may affect eligibility for CE credit.
