This course provides a critical analysis of artificial intelligence as an emerging component of  in the counseling profession. Participants examine the impact of client use of AI tools on counselor professional identity, scope of practice, ethical responsibility, and clinical judgment. This course will also emphasize professional discernment, ethical analysis, and the counselor’s role in navigating technology-informed practice while maintaining professional standards and client safety.

Learning Objectives:

  • Identify ways client use of AI tools impacts counseling practice and professional identity.
  • Analyze ethical and professional considerations, including confidentiality, scope, and accountability.
  • Evaluate risks and benefits of clients’ use of AI for emotional support or mental health information.
  • Formulate strategies to address client reliance on AI while maintaining ethics, safety, and therapeutic integrity.

About the Speaker

Quanesha Johnson, LPC is a Board Certified Counselor, Licensed Professional Counselor in the State of Pennsylvania and Mental Health and Wellness Educator.

She received her Masters from NYU in Counseling and Certificate of Advanced Studies in Counseling from Chestnut Hill College.

Additionally, she is a Certified K-12 Classroom Teacher and School Counselor. She has over 15 years of experience working in elementary, middle and high school settings.

BTG Continuing Education Programs are open to qualified mental health and behavioral health professionals, educators, students, and other professionals whose roles are relevant to the course topic. Participants are responsible for determining whether the course meets the continuing education requirements of their applicable licensing or credentialing board.

There are no refunds. If you are unable to attend the course that you registered and paid for, please email info@btgcounselinged.com. Your registration will be transferred to a future CE offering.

If a course is cancelled or rescheduled by BTG or the presenter, registered participants will be notified as soon as reasonably possible and will have the following options:

  • Transfer their registration to the rescheduled offering of the same course at no additional cost.
  • Transfer their registration to another eligible continuing education course.
  • Request a full refund of the registration fee.

Participants must attend the full CE components to receive continuing education credit. Attendance will be verified by using methods designated by BTG Counseling and Educational Services. Certificates of completion will be issued only after all attendance and completion requirements have been met. This is inclusive of completing a course evaluation.

We will provide reasonable technical assistance for issues within our control; however, technology interruptions that prevent attendance or participation from being verified may affect eligibility for CE credit.
